He emphasizes the importance of reciprocity in relationships: "It's what is it that I can give into this relationship in order that I can get something out of it?" Moreover, he challenges conventional views on resilience, stating, "Resilience is nothing to do with bouncing. What resilience has got to do with is understanding that life really does not go in the way in which you want it to go at all times."
