GOP debate minus Trump, speech on democracy, impeachment inquiry hearing

GOP presidential candidates took to the stage last in their second debate, battling over how they would handle the border crisis, the war in Ukraine and the economy. Front-runner Trump skipped the debate to visit a non-union auto plant in Michigan, making a pitch to the State’s working class. Plus, Biden is to give a speech in Arizona today on the state of democracy, issuing a warning over Trump’s threat to democracy. And, the House GOP is to hold the first public hearing in the President’s impeachment inquiry, as the clock ticks down to a government shutdown in just two days. Also this morning: the American soldier who crossed into North Korea on purpose is now back on US soil, and the new dress code rule now in place after after John Fetterman's attire became a bit of a flashpoint in the upper chamber.
