Today I have the absolute pleasure of sitting down and discussing the road to becoming a strength and conditioning coach in the NBA with Felipe Eichenberger. He starts out the discussion sharing with us where he see’s the role of conditioning, monitoring, how they’re tied together, and how his time as a player helps him with building out these “workouts”. He then shares with us how he “buckets” the team, how this impacts training decisions, and what the goals are of each group. We then discuss the steps he had to take to get to the league and what advice he would give to young International coaches wanting to come to the states to practice. We finish off touching upon the importance of metrics in increasing buy-in and helping the athletes understand what they’re doing and how much they’re improving.
