The Border Crisis and Biden's Policy

Joe Biden's open-border policy and executive actions have sent a message that the southern border is open for illegal immigration. As a result, there has been a surge in the number of people crossing the border, with 302,000 in December alone. The House passed a border bill (HR 2) on May 15th, but it has been languishing in the Senate Judiciary Committee, which has never touched the bill. A select committee was formed to negotiate a bipartisan deal, but it lacks immediate funding to secure the border and includes provisions that could codify catch and release for certain groups of people.
