15. Adolescent Anxiety: How To Respond & Why
Clinical Psychologist Dr. Flora Suh shares some very practical tips for parents and teachers addressing adolescent anxiety. Whether you need support right now or are preparing for your child’s tender stage of adolescence, this episode steps through the early signs of anxiety, responding with empathy, and why parents and teachers can make a difference.
In this episode, Flora recommends the help of a school counselor when a parent needs external advice. Fortunately, at the PARED schools, each student has an individual mentor who meets with them regularly throughout the year. Anxiety and other mental health challenges are often noticed by the mentor who can discuss a supportive plan between the parents and student, as well as provide advice for seeking professional support when needed.
