Efforts Towards Green Elections and Environmental Impacts of Campaigning

Efforts to promote green elections in India include using eco-friendly materials for campaign banners, encouraging public transport and carpooling, and consolidating polling stations to minimize travel distances. The introduction of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) has reduced the environmental impact of election processes by saving paper and lowering fuel consumption during transportation. However, challenges remain, such as the environmental implications of disposing of paper used in EVMs and the need for more stringent environmental practices to offset the significant carbon emissions generated during elections.
