“I’m leaving.” That’s what my friend said to me some months ago as she surveyed the political and spiritual landscape here in the pacific northwest. “You have the gift of fighting. I do not.” It was like a hammer to my heart. Why would anyone leave the fighting to someone else? Don’t we all have a part to play? Why are we running?

The questions kept coming.

My heart has been heavy lately over the number of people who I see fleeing instead of fighting. And while I realize that God calls us all to different things—I have come to question this exodus off the Battlefield. God has gifted us all, for such a time as this.

“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. 5 There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. 6 God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” 1 Cor 12:4-7
