The Department of Veterans Affairs is eliminating a pay bump for thousands of its employees. The VA approved a special salary rate under the Biden administration, giving HR professionals a 15% pay increase. The department approved the pay increase to address persistent underfunding across its HR workforce, and it was about the same time that VA surged healthcare hiring to treat more veterans under the toxic exposure PACT Act.
