SEBI freezes bank accounts of Gropital

SEBI has frozen the bank accounts of Gropital, an Agri investment startup, after a complaint was received about its investment scheme. SEBI believes that Gropital's structure, where investors become co-owners in limited liability partnerships, allows it to escape regulations and operate as a collective investment scheme (CIS). Gropital raised 180 crore rupees from investors, but SEBI's initial investigation suggests that it is an illegal and fraudulent investment scheme. As a result, SEBI has ordered Gropital to stop soliciting investments, freeze existing funds, and remove all misleading marketing materials.
