Welcome to the Nevi’im — the second section of the Hebrew Bible, or Tanakh. If the Torah gave us the Law, the Nevi’im (Prophets) is where the story continues with fire, poetry, confrontation, and covenant accountability.

The word Nevi’im means “prophets,” but don’t think fortune-tellers. These prophets weren’t predicting random future events — they were calling God’s people back to the covenant He made with them in the Torah. Their job was not foretelling… but forth-telling: declaring truth, exposing injustice, and reminding Israel who they were called to be.

The Nevi’im is split into two parts:

• Former Prophets — Joshua, Judges, Samuel, and Kings. These aren’t just history books. They’re prophetic narratives that bear witness to Israel’s unfaithfulness.

• Latter Prophets — Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and the Scroll of the Twelve (the so-called “Minor Prophets”). These books are collections of sermons and symbolic actions — emotional, poetic, and deeply personal — reflecting God’s heartbreak and fierce love for His people.

In this episode, Dr. Manny unpacks how the prophets function like a legal case:

• The evidence: narrative failures in the Former Prophets.

• The arguments: powerful preaching in the Latter Prophets.

• The witnesses: the texts themselves, bearing testimony to the broken covenant.

And in a surprise twist, we’ll follow the Latter Prophets in chronological order — not the traditional Tanakh sequence — to help you better understand the historical timeline and the emotional weight of each prophet’s message.
