59 - Funding Open-Source Software with Crypto, with Scott Moore from Gitcoin
In this episode of The Unstoppable Podcast we’re talking to Scott Moore. He's a co-founder and head of community at Gitcoin, an open-source platform for building public goods and getting paid for it through cryptocurrency.
Scott talks about why he and his co-founder Kevin decided to start Gitcoin, and we dive into the advantages of open-source and public goods, and reveal some of the risks.
Scott talks about the challenges involved in getting people to pay for public goods and preventing freeloaders from taking advantage of them. We discuss where Gitcoin falls on the spectrum of Web 2.0 and Web 3.0.
We also talk about Scott’s experiences launching the GTC coin and Gitcoin DAO, and why they chose to do it. Finally, he shares some of the coolest projects he’s seen built on Gitcoin, and some he’d love to see built.
