3. Pursuit of Happiness :: Annette Mae
A renaissance woman of sorts, Annette Mae is a New York City-based classically trained singer, writer, orator, and local radio show host. Three years ago, she kickstarted Classical-ish with Nutmeg, an experimental classical music radio show hosted at makerparkradio.nyc, where she showcases the unsung and diverse contributors to the genre historically occupied by “old, dead white guys”, as she comically puts it (last week, she featured selections from English composer Alma Deutscher, a 15-year old prodigy).
In this episode, we talk about being confined by labels, the factors that hinder the realization of potential, talent and what makes it work, the meaning of success, investing in experiences and not things, mental health coping mechanisms, a renewed look at classical music, and so much more!
