Johan set the business up with partner Fawaz AlRajhi in 2019 to provide international investors, typically from the GCC region, direct access to UK and European real estate investment opportunities, asset management and advisory services. Prior to setting up the business Johan was the Head of International Real Estate at AlRajhi United, managing a multi sector real estate portfolio across the US, UK, continental Europe and the UAE. Johan has held senior positions with several real estate private equity fund managers such as Benson Elliot and Queensgate Investments, having started his career in the real estate investment banking team of Merrill Lynch in London. I sat down with Johan to discuss a broad range of subjects which covered some of the following topics:
How he got into real estate
Early career moves
Investing in operational real estate
Market timing
Why he set up the business
Dealing with middle eastern investors
Deal alignment
Oh and one last question - who are the People, what Property, and in which Place Johan would invest should he have £500m of equity at his disposal
