The surge in popularity can be attributed to attractions like the Harbin ice and snow world, which became the most popular destination in the country. Hotel bookings in Harbin for the holiday surged by 2,570% year on year, with most of the tourists coming from southern provinces and cities. Harbin's sudden rise as a winter hotspot is attributed to its ice and snow resources, winter sports, and unique architecture.
