#6 - Shoaib Iqbal: Securing $150m in Pre-Order's to Build Hyperspectral Imaging Satellites
Shoaib Iqbal is a co-founder of Esper Satellite Imagery, an Australian space tech company that builds and launches hyperspectral Earth imaging satellites.
By capturing hundreds of different wavelengths, these satellites create detailed spectral signatures that enable industries such as mining, oil and gas, agriculture, and environmental monitoring to precisely analyse materials and monitor changes on Earth’s surface.
With currently two satellites in orbit with plans to expand to 18 by 2028, they’ve secured around $150 million in pre-orders from less than a million in funding.
Revenue has grown from around six figures to somewhere in the tens of millions range this year, and they’re coming in 30 to 40 times lower than what their competitors are offering.
