Kent Pekel is the President and CEO of Search Institute, a not-for-profit organization that leads applied research and develops practical resources to help young people become their best selves. He is based in Chicago, USA.

Having overcome personal tragedy in his adult life, Kent worked in school, district, state, federal, and university education levels in the US, developing a unique perspective on relationships and  child development.

In our conversation, Kent outlines the importance of relationships in supporting children to become the best version of themselves. He explains the importance of being honest with children, why taking the time to really know each individual is crucial and why explaining processes helps children to better understand their own relationships.

Kent also shares some wonderful takeaway activities relevant for anyone, in any context where relationships matter.
