Chambers has been a Certified Athletic Trainer for more than 35 years, with all but five of those years as Head Athletic Trainer at the college/university level. Prior to starting his company in October 2017, he served as an Athletic Trainer for Minnesota State University for 18 years. Jeff attained his education for athletic training at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and completion of the Athletic Training Education Program. He received his Master’s Degree in Physical Education from the University of Northern Colorado with an emphasis in Sports Medicine in 1985.
For 23 years, he has been researching and evaluating the brachial plexus injury to understand prevention methods beyond neck strengthening. During the past ten years, he has analyzed concussion research, including new theories on the causes and mechanisms of concussions. He discovered through research that movement of the head after impact causing brachial plexus injury is one of the same mechanisms causing forces on the brain after impact resulting in concussion. As a result, he designed, developed, and patented a new safety device to protect the head and neck against forces which continue to act on the brain and neck after impact until the head stops moving.
He is Founder of Guardian Athletics, an innovative-driven sports company dedicated to player safety. Chambers developed the head and neck collar “Kato Collar”, designed to decelerate the helmeted head after any impact.
