Dr. Nicole Byers joins me in conversation about somatic symptoms- those symptoms that may be physical in nature like headaches but without a clear medical cause. We talk about how somatic symptom disorders develop, how to screen for them, and ways to support individuals with somatic symptoms. We also explore how these symptoms may show up in everyone's lives, particularly in the current culture of "Busy". 

Dr. Nicole Byers is a neuropsychologist in Calgary Alberta. She’s the host of The Bold Life podcast and is an online educator. Her passion is helping women overcome the mental barriers that leave them stuck in self-doubt so they can stop worrying what everyone else thinks, and build the confidence to speak up, stop hesitating, and take action towards their goals. She has a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Saskatchewan and is an Adjunct Research Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary, and has published articles in professional journals in the areas of brain health.
