Published in six fortnightly installments from January to March 1908, 'Scouting for Boys' was written by Robert Baden-Powell specifically for young men. The book is divided into 'yarns' that advise on various points of knowledge such as self-discipline, chivalry, prevention of disease, camp cooking, endurance, and stalking. It includes the Scout Oath, Scout Law, honors, and games for youth, and was designed to be affordable and accessible to many boys. The book's success led to the rapid formation of Boy Scout troops across Britain and eventually around the world.
