219: New Year’s Resolutions: How to Help Our Kids (and Ourselves) When We Want to Quit and Give Up
In this episode I challenge exhausted parents to take a break from setting New Year's resolutions, go ahead and take a nap, you have permission. I also guide you on how to focus on your goals and dreams and embrace the power of visualizing your "B-rated" movie for the upcoming year.
Through this episode, I stress the importance of making time for ourselves and taking a break from the hustle. We have to give ourselves permission to take a nap, to blow off New Year's resolutions, and to focus on our own needs and goals. We can incorporate the concept of manifesting and incorporating a growth mindset when setting goals or intentions. We can even make a cheesy B-rated movie in our minds with us as the star and our kids as supporting characters to help us visualize our goals and dreams.
"Give yourself permission to have a cheesy B rated movie going on in your brain that you're the star of and allow yourself to daydream and envision the person you want to become this year."
In this episode, you will learn the following:
- How can you teach your children to be the best version of themselves without sacrificing your own needs and desires?
- What is the neuroscience behind manifesting and setting goals for yourself?
- Why is it important to take the time to envision and rehearse conflict in order to achieve your goals?
As always, thanks for listening, and be sure and head over to Facebook and you can join my free group Mastermind Parenting Community, where we post tips and tools and do pop up Live conversations where I do extra teaching and coaching to support you in helping your strong-willed children so that they can FEEL better and DO better.
