A group of heroes return to the Citadel after their successful mission. They are celebrated and awarded for their bravery and service. The atmosphere is filled with joy and pride as the heroes are recognized for their accomplishments. They are given medals and titles in a grand ceremony attended by archmages and high-ranking officials. The heroes are praised and honored for their dedication to the Citadel and their courage in defending the empire.
The protagonist, Suverin Cadberesquitz, engages in a conversation with Steel, an older woman who holds a high position within the Citadel. Suverin expresses her frustration about her current role and desires more meaningful and challenging tasks. Steel reassures Suverin, reminding her of her potential and the honor of being an apprentice to an archmage. They discuss the importance of their cause and the sacrifices their parents made for the Citadel. Steel offers Suverin guidance and support, acknowledging her talents and encouraging her to stay connected with the Citadel.
Suverin receives news that her grandmother is gravely ill and is granted permission to leave the Citadel temporarily to visit her. Steel provides Suverin with essential items for her journey, including a staff, a book, and a speaking mirror for communication. Suverin is overwhelmed with gratitude and bids farewell to the Citadel. She embarks on her journey, filled with determination and excitement, eager to prove herself and make her parents proud.
Suverin, now outside the Citadel, arrives at the village of Toma, not too far from her destination. She approaches a cottage surrounded by a beautiful garden and welcomes the familiar sights and sounds of the village. The cottage is warm and inviting, and Suverin is ready to begin her new chapter as she sets foot in Toma, eager to learn and grow under the guidance of the witch who resides there.
Grandmother Ren, in her final moments, reveals that the house and all its power now belongs to Suvi. She also mentions a curse on her memory and the presence of hidden secrets.
Grandmother Ren instructs Amé and Suvi to retrieve a sword called Wavebreaker from Ursulon, the wild one. The sword will aid in uncovering the secrets and potentially locating the ones responsible for the curse.
Taro, Grandmother Ren's familiar, fades away, but not before emphasizing the importance of finding Arsalan and the sword. Suvi contemplates where Arsalan might be and prepares herself to embark on this new quest.
After a lifetime apart, three childhood friends are drawn back together by circumstance, by command, and by a danger that no one can yet begin to comprehend.
Welcome, to the world of Umora. Welcome, to The Wizard, the Witch, and the Wild One.
