Dr. Dirk de Ridder is a Belgian neurosurgeon who is currently serving as the Neurological Foundation Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. Dr. de Ridder also spends half his time setting up a dedicated neuromodulation clinic in Belgium. He has published over 250 scientific articles and more than 30 scientific book chapters.
Dr. De Ridder joins me for episode 18 of the Roscoe's Wetsuit Podcast to discuss neuromodulation techniques and brain implants to treat tinnitus, migraines, and headaches, among other conditions. We discussed how addiction involves dysfunctional firing of certain neural circuitry, and how neurotherapy is the next big tool for psychiatry and neurology.
