Let’s dive into the intersection of design, art, and craft, as Anne Hjortshøj joins us to talk about contemporary fine art, which she finds more abstract and intriguing than traditional figurative art. She explores the common misconceptions surrounding design as an art form, and explores the contextual nature of art. Anne touches on the role of museums, the evolution of art trends, and her personal encounters with significant artworks, as well as the economic structures of the fine art world, its small and elitist nature, auction house controversies, and the tension between artistic intent and market value.
