Do you see yourself with many characteristics of your parents? Maybe you try to be as different as you can from them, or perhaps you do everything they do because they are amazing. Either way, this phrase can cause harm or good, depending on the way it’s used. See, if we only look to our earthly parents for wisdom, guidance and truth, we will fall short. Our heavenly Father needs to be our priority for our identity. We are to honor our earthly parents, love them and receive all sorts of wisdom of guidance, but they cannot be first. If we want to truly grow, we are seek first the Kingdom of God. If your parents truly are amazing parents, they will show you that their ceiling is your floor. You are to honor them and fly higher and further than they ever could. So the apple falls very far from the tree. When you open your eyes to see, there is a whole entire orchard in front of you, not just one little apple.
