The Rise of Hacktivism in Peru

Hacktivism, a form of activism that employs hacking techniques to promote social or political causes, has emerged significantly in Peru, particularly through a group known as LulzSec Peru. Despite being relatively small, consisting of just two self-taught teenagers, they effectively challenged a landscape laden with corruption. Their early exploits included defacing websites and hacking into government entities, showcasing their disdain for corrupt practices prevalent in Peruvian politics. By targeting official platforms like the Interior Ministry, they began to gain attention for their efforts to expose systemic corruption, which was a hallmark of Peruvian governance since the 2000s.
