Get Out Of Your Head - The Antidote for Pride
C.S. Lewis once said, “Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next man.” In this program, guest teacher Jennie Allen continues her series by describing the subtle dangers of self-importance and how we can shift our focus onto making a genuine difference with our lives.
Introduction: Philippians 2:5-11
Self-importance – to make ourselves seen, known, loved, or important. Ultimately wanting to be or disappointed that we are not important.
The antidote for pride:
- Humility
-It comes from a dependence on Jesus and a belief that this life is all about Him
-It allows us to produce the fruit of Christ because we have the mind of Christ
-Others see God in us and they see God because of our obedience
- Stillness with God and time in God’s Word
- Love and serve others
