Addressing Information Silos in Healthcare
The podcast episode discusses the problem of information silos in healthcare, where stakeholders operate exclusively in their own little worlds. The speaker emphasizes the need to break down these silos to improve collaboration and decision-making in the industry. This is achieved through conversations and initiatives like Curiosity Camp, which brings together diverse perspectives within the digital health ecosystem. By combining the expertise of digital health researchers, technology vendors, clinicians, and patient representatives, they aim to develop evidence-based approaches to tackle complex healthcare problems.
Using Digital Health to Improve Women's Health
One tribe at Curiosity Camp is focused on improving women's health, particularly in the areas of perimenopause and menopause. They are developing a client portal that offers group coaching and one-on-one coaching sessions to help women better understand and navigate the challenges of this phase of life. The use of technology and a shared safe space allows doctors to efficiently provide tailored care to multiple patients, while empowering women with knowledge and support. The tribe is grateful for the opportunity to work with the Digital Health CRC, validating their assumptions and building evidence-based solutions to empower women in healthcare.
Addressing the Awareness Gap in Metabolic Health
Another tribe at Curiosity Camp is focused on addressing the awareness gap in metabolic health. They discovered that there is a significant lack of awareness about prediabetes and type 2 diabetes in the general population, even though a large portion of individuals fall into these categories based on their glucose data. The tribe aims to explore how continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) can be used to address this crisis and improve metabolic health. They plan to develop a comprehensive research plan, combining industry expertise with research methodologies, to evaluate the effectiveness of CGM in preventing and managing metabolic health conditions.
This is part two of a special two-part series of Talking HealthTech, recorded at the Digital Health CRC Curiosity Camp.
