The main issue with leadership thus far, Lance states, is that it has been based on motivation as opposed to inspiration. What makes those concepts so opposite from his perspective? The fact that motivation is fear-based, while inspiration is love-based. Here, Lance outlines the difference between lighting a fire under someone and lighting a fire within them.
Lance believes that people are yearning for inspiration, and that a lack of it is a direct contributor to the Great Resignation. For leaders that are keen to change their approach, he offers some practical advice in this episode. For example, he expresses concern about the warrior-like language that we use at work and its potentially poisonous impact. Could language laced with love be the key to inspiring employees?
