039. "I used emotional eating to avoid my feelings": Lynn Louise

Oct 10, 2021
37:57

Lynn Louise knows all about emotional eating. In fact, she did all kinds of activities in order to distract herself from her feelings:

  • drugs
  • drinking
  • running
  • eating

She freely admits that she had lots of distractive habits. The trigger was a traumatic experience that she had when she was a teenager, but she didn't know that at the time.
She first drank alcohol socially, but it soon turned to drinking for comfort. Then came emotional eating.

Lynn Louise tried therapy, but she always went back to her habits that gave her comfort.

She was in her late 40s when she became aware that she was doing those distracting behaviours and habits for the "wrong" reasons. She says that she would run or eat in order to avoid feeling her feelings.

From the outside, she had it all. Everything was great. But she was trying to find external solutions to internal problems. She felt overwhelmed, depressed, alone... like an imposter in her own life.

Listen to Lynn Louise's candid and inspiring story of how she overcame that cycle of compulsive behaviours and how she helps other women get unstuck too.
