The Hard Work of a Democracy

If we want a functioning democracy, then were going to have to get uncomfortable with each other. And ah, that means disagreeing. That means having aversiv reactions. Yung said once about his swiss democracy: He says, you know, everybody thinks apt of switzerland is peaceful, but we have a democracy here where we all hate each other and try to kill each other within the rules and boundaries of elections. We lose that in a projective splitting culture because we dehumanize each other. I think young had a great deal to say that supports democracy. The particular unique american version of it, by the way, supports it from the bottom up. So i find myself
