The Role of Women in the Democratic Transition in Latin America

During Latin America's democratic transition in the 90s, women amongst other marginalized groups played an important role. Women staged protests across Latin America to demand better representation and inclusion. Argentina became the first country in the modern era in 1991 to pass a 30 percent gender quota law requiring that all parties have women as 30 percent of their candidates. And today we have 10 of all Latin American countries saved Guatemala and Venezuela have quota laws.
