Is Uric Acid a Causative Player in Diseases?
For about 15, 20 years, people were thinking that uric acid might be the cause of obesity, high blood pressure, kidney disease. The only problem back then was they didn't have any treatment that worked. So a but they were thinking about it, and then it got lost. It's just our nature want to pigeon hole things like uric acid into one area. I do think this is one of the problems in that the great apes, who consumed a lot of fruit none the less, have uricase mutation significantly lower than humans. And so maybe thereis thing not quite as threatening, from a frutos perspective, with regard to eating fruit.
