David Sedaris on Desert Island Discs
David Sedaris talks about coming out as gay and how difficult his dad made his life. The writer lost his sister to suicide quite a few years ago. And they spoke about that in this really beautiful piece he wrote for the New Yorker. I felt like I understood so much about him, but what was very interesting about going back and reading that New Yorker piece is clearly this piece was written before his dad had died. So the kind of double-pronged experience I had reading and listening to this was really interesting and I loved it.
