The king marries Chacunzela without her father's knowledge. They go their separate ways, but she comes completely and utterly absorbed by thought for her husband. The sage sees her and becomes furious that there was someone there who was just ignoring him. So he puts a curse on her: whoever she's daydreaming about forgets her completely.
