The Power Struggle Between Joseph Smith and Bishop Partridge
Ezra Booth wrote to Edward Partridge in November of 1831. In the letter he says, when you intimated to Joseph that the land which he and Oliver had selected was inferior in point of quality to other lands adjoining,. He replied, I see it and it will be so disappeared to me to be a shift better suited to an imposter than a true prophet of the Lord. So there's a power struggle going on. And this is what's going to lead to the first vision and priesthood restoration stories, start to get recorded down.
