What Did Abraham Pray For?
In Galatians chapter 4 verse 29 this is called persecution. By laughing Ishmael puts himself forward as a counterfeit. This is one more Egyptian attack on the seed and on the kingdom. When someone competes for what is yours it is persecution even if indirect. And so she said to Abraham, drive out this maid and her son. For the son of this maid she will not be in error with Isaac. Now we can't exclude the possibility that Ishmael is going to be saved and redeemed by God"
