The Purpose of Prayer
I was wondering, in your opinion, what the purpose of prayer is and how we should structure our prayers. What do you think, Tom? This is a hugely important issue. And we've got other questions related to it as well. I really do want to say something basic theological, the basic theological level right from the beginning in Genesis one. God creates the world in such a way that his image bearing creatures, humans, men and women and children, will have real agency within it. Many times we then bargain with God. If you do X, then I will do why I'm becoming increasingly uncomfortable with this pattern.
