It's a rodent disease from start finish. It lives permanently in colonies of burrowing rodents here in America and in prairie dog populations, most ancestrally in central asia. And wherever you have black rats, ratus ratus, which is very susceptible to the plague. When the black rats die, their fleas are carrying the bacteriu. So when the black Rats die, these fleas that are infected with bacteria jump to humans and infect humans with with bubonic plague.
