Houses Kinship and Capital
The book is kind of in the shadow of and it is sort of kind of writing to kind of unpack. Houses are effectively another word for what used to be called the British establishment. They're invested with a lot of hope in terms of reproducing past greatness and so on. The reason why these there is a group of people who are invested with that kind of political and cultural I think belief system more than anything rather than their actual status. There's no coherent collective identity that the English has which is not in some way inflected with class distinctions or social inequalities of some kind.
