This is, i believe, how we will arrive at a proper account of christ's divinity. It's a longer route, but it leads to a more decisive understanding. Jesus now calls matthew tax collectors were despised for collaborations with the romans and also for their injustice. The fact that jesus would eat with such persons was scandalous to many observing jews. But this jesus of nazareth seems to be invested with a far greater power than any of these former prophets.
