Manuel Noriega Part 3: Bush Invades Panama

Real Dictators

CHAPTER

Noriega's Speech to the National Assembly

Noriega thought he was so indispensable he could say and do whatever he wanted. This invulnerability starts to get broken down near the beginning of 1989 when his military does things that don't allow Bush to ignore him anymore. The PDF decides that they're going to inexplicably seize 20 school buses full of children from U.S. personnel. No president could have ordered something like this if the military had been opposed, especially an institutionalist like Bush 41.
