Is This a Text Book on Philosophy?

Book is an introduction to the history of philosophy, as well as new questions about virtual reality and artificial intelligence. Author says he didn't set out to write a text book but wanted it to be accessible for people with no formal background in philosophy. He also argues that we live in assimulation or bon reality - which i think is his own position on the matter.
