The Pros and Cons of Privateering

Privateers were technically only supposed to take British ships or other ships that were bringing British munitions, ammunition and supplies. They would go to places where it was most likely there would be potential ships to capture. The ideal scenario was to come upon a ship, determine that it was British, ask them to surrender and they surrender because they were outgunned.
