Is There a Political Mandate for Cuts to Public Services?
Inflation is now running at higher than 10% here in the UK. Our interest rates are up significantly and going upwards, which means that mortgages are rising. This is hitting working people, but a lot of middle class families are remorgaging. So whoever is prime minister needs a mandate to deal with that. After years of austerity under David Cameron and George Osborne, no one in Britain wants to see cuts to public services.
