Black British people are an immigrant community. And this is not the case with black Americans. Why is there such a desire to link their narrative to the American narrative when they are so incongruent? I think it's important to emphasize the multiplicity of what it means to be black and British precisely because the experiences of say a black Caribbean student in school is very different to the experiences of a black African student.
