The Importance of Selection in Machine Learning

In blind variation and selective retention, the method by which you're selecting things matters a lot. And so it doesn't produce anything like what neo-Darwinism is capable of producing because the selection criterion there is much more nuanced. So that would explain why we're using gradient descent to go do things in machine learning. That's just a very poor way of going about it compared to whatever it is that biology is actually doing.
