Heracles's Visit to Rome
Rome's supposed trojan heritage played to a more internalized set of collective aspirations in greek epic. The myth of romulus and remus also reaffirmed a chronological and conceptual bridge between its trojan past and latium. By the third century b c, it was not just the romans themselves, but also their rivals who attempted to make geo political capital from the city's supposed origins.
