Recessions Devastate Local Public Services
In the UK, local authorities are funded by a flat sum amount tax that every tenant or resident has to pay. Landlords don't pay property tax in this country, but their tenants basically pay a fee for local services. The inability of localities to keep spending through recessions makes these recessions worse. In britain, since 20 11, we've been also doing just just slashing shit non stop. It's led to a particular kind of local psychosis when people who never really had problems with the services they depend on are suddenly like, weight i can't get my trash picked up every week like they used to. Once again, just like this hard corp austerity economics.
