In 1943, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed an executive order to direct the maximum amount of manpower toward supporting the country's fight in World War II. Kellogg's responded in kind by temporarily returning to eight-hour shifts. WK Kellogg had been proud to pay what he considered the best hourly wages in town. More than any other demand, this position would come to haunt Kellogg workers.
