The Iron Maiden and the Iron Maid in Devices
Not a single iron maiden is dated any earlier than the 18 hundreds. People say real mediaeval torture devices, i think, because people sort of had an uncritical understanding of when the mediaeval period was in the 18 Hundreds. An iron maiden that they said was real was on display at the world's fair in chicago in 18 93,. But not a single record of any iron maiden or iron maid in device existing earlier than the 16th century.
